About Us
The United Methodist Nursery School is a non-profit, non-sectarian program, founded in 1969,
owned and operated by Crawford Memorial United Methodist Church. Our curriculum mixes
structure with plenty of flexibility for young active minds, taught by a highly qualified team of
teachers in a happy nurturing environment.
The Nursery School program is licensed by the Dept. of Early Education and Care of
Massachusetts and is in compliance with all Health and Safety Regulations of the Town of
Winchester. It is also accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs.
Our Philosophy
It is the Nursery School’s philosophy that school
and learning should be an enjoyable time of
exploration and discovery.
Most of what young children learn is through
direct sensory experience; therefore we promote
learning through play. We provide time for free
play experiences as well as teach concepts
through planned and directed activities.
The school atmosphere encourages freedom of
choice within a structured environment and
supports children’s independence. Children take
great pride in accomplishing tasks on their own
and grow in self confidence with each new
success. Our program is planned to meet the
developmental needs of the children and
support them as they grow physically,
emotionally, intellectually and socially.
Our goal at the United Methodist Nursery School
is to make every child’s first school experience a
positive one that begins a lifetime of learning.
Parental Involvement
The United Methodist
Nursery School has an open
door policy. Parents are
welcome at any time. Come
in and read a story with us,
bake some cookies, or sing
some songs, the children
love it and so do we.
